It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the Civil Engineering Society, ENS, HKUSU on the occasion of its inauguration ceremony for the newly elected cabinet of Session 2013.
The Society plays an important role in the lives of our students who are interested in learning more about the different aspects of and current developments in civil engineering. So when the Society’s Members take part in extracurricular activities that involve the engineering profession, they are not only learning about their discipline in a holistic, experiential way, but also continuing the HKU tradition of maintaining strong community engagement. I am sure the experience they acquire from these events will serve them well in their future careers.
My congratulations to the members of the Society’s new cabinet, and my best wishes of success to you in all your endeavours.

On behalf of the Department of Civil Engineering, may I congratulate the new 13th Executive Committee on their election to office!
Since the establishment of Civil Engineering Society, ENS, HKUSU in 2001, the Society has successfully fostered strong ties between our civil engineering students, teachers, alumni, professionals and organisations in the construction industry. The Society has also served as a strong link between the Department and the student body, enabling the Department to communicate with and consult our students at all times.
Each year, the Society organises various academic and social activities, such as seminars, site visits, firm visits and career talks. The Civil Annual Dinner is also a highlight of the year’s events. I have always been deeply impressed by the dedication of the Executive Committee members in serving the student body and have no doubt that the new committee will continue this fine tradition.
Our thanks also go to the members of the past 12th Executive Committee for their hard work and commitment during the past year.
On behalf of the Department of Civil Engineering, our best wishes to the 13th Executive Committee for a success year ahead!
